On 14 May 2026, Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Fuwad Thowfeek, Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Thailand.

Both sides exchanged views on advancing Thailand - Maldives bilateral relations through high-level visits and bilateral political dialogue at the Director-General level, as well as cooperation on key areas, including trade and investment, essential commodities, tourism, healthcare, development cooperation, and agriculture. They also discussed promoting cooperation in multilateral frameworks.
