On 15 - 16 October 2024, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, led a Thai delegation to attend the 2024 Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Asian Conference in Vienna, Austria. The conference was attended by 57 OSCE participating States and 5 Asian Partners for Co-operation (including Thailand).
On this occasion, the Director-General delivered remarks at the Opening Session themed "Towards Stronger Partnerships for Sustainable Peace and Security," emphasising the important role of the OSCE in enhancing constructive engagement and cooperation between Asia and Europe, particularly amidst global challenges in geopolitics, security, and climate change. Thailand confirmed its readiness to serve as a bridge builder between OSCE and ASEAN in non-traditional security issues.
In environmental dimension session, the Thai delegation highlighted the urgency and importance of cooperation to tackle climate change. Thailand has implemented the people-centered policies through the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model, while in the human security dimension session, the Thai delegation stressed the significance of inclusive and constructive dialogue to create the conducive environment for human security and human rights.
On the margins of the conference, the Director-General also had bilateral meetings with the OSCE Secretariat’s Head of External Co–operation and the Director-General of the Department of Asia and Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria.
