On 24 January 2024, H.E. Mr. Jakkapong Sangmanee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, delivered a remarks in the first session under the topic “Unveiling New Generation of Thai Industrial Policy - Diplomacy in perspective of New Generation Ministers” at “Thailand 2024 The Great Challenges: Increase Income, Reduce Expense, and Enhance Opportunities” seminar held by Matichon.
DFM highlighted the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in rebuilding Thailand’s position on the world stage with a neutral stance and clear goals, in order to address global political polarization and respond to new economic challenges and opportunities. The Ministry is ready to be in the forefront of the negotiations to emphasise that Thailand is now open for business and foreign investment.
The Deputy Foreign Minister added that Thailand currently has 14 free trade agreements (FTAs) and has planned to negotiate 12 more, bringing the total to 26 FTAs. The negotiations will be pursued with EU, SACU, GCC, Australia, South Korea, and many more. In addition, there are also ongoing visa exemption negotiations to facilitate Thais to go abroad, of which the progress will be updated periodically.
