On 21 January 2026, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Barham Salih, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.

The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in taking care of and finding durable solutions for displaced persons and persons in need of international protection in Thailand, the region and beyond. The High Commissioner commended Thailand’s continued efforts in finding solutions for the Myanmar Displaced Persons (MDPs), including in allowing them to work outside the temporary shelters, as well as efforts in eradicating statelessness. Both sides also exchanged views on regional issues, international collective efforts to combat online scams.
