On 21 February 2025, H.E. Dr. Lalivan Karnchanachari, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Otaka Masato, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand, who paid a courtesy call on the occasion of his assumption of duty.

Both sides reaffirmed the long-standing and close friendship between the two countries, particularly in light of the upcoming 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan. They exchanged views on ways to enhance cooperation in various areas, including culture, soft power, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides also highlighted Thailand’s participation in EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
