On 23 July 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, through the Thailand and Nordic Countries Innovation Unit (TNIU), organised the inaugural online seminar under the Thailand x Nordic Innovation Series, titled “Denmark’s Innovation Ecosystem: Strategic Insights for Enhancing Thailand’s Competitiveness.”

The event featured knowledge and experience sharing by three Thai professionals in Denmark’s innovation ecosystem, who shared expertise and first-hand insights across key strategic sectors:

• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pimlapas Leekitjaroenphon (Technical University of Denmark - DTU) addressed the “Wellness Economy,” demonstrating how scientific research, genomics, and evidence-based approaches can add economic value to Thai herbal and natural products, elevate healthcare services, and enhance the global competitiveness of Thailand's wellness industry.
• Mr. Potchara Sumetha-Aksom (Lightning and Risk Modelling Specialist, Siemens Energy A/S) shared lessons from Denmark’s decades-long leadership in wind energy and green supply chain development, emphasising the roles of targeted policymaking, sustained R&D investment, and robust collaboration among government, academia, and industry.
• Dr. Peam Jeh-Ali (Production Engineer, Novo Nordisk A/S) highlighted the evolution of Denmark’s life sciences ecosystem, detailing how continuous research, cross-sector partnerships, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) drive healthcare innovation and foster a resilient life sciences sector.

On this occasion, H.E. Mrs. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, delivered a key keynote address titled “Science Diplomacy: How the Danish Model Can Inspire Innovation for Thailand.” The Ambassador underscored the crucial role of Science, Research, and Innovation (SRI) diplomacy in driving a knowledge-based economy. She noted that Denmark’s systematic alignment between government, industry, and research institutions serves as a valuable model for Thailand. Furthermore, she reaffirmed the commitment of the Embassy, TNIU, and the Thai talent pool to act as a bridge to advance Thailand's SRI capabilities and national competitiveness.

 The seminar was attended by over 115 participants representing government agencies, the private sector, academic and research institutions, as well as Thai students and professionals based in both Thailand and Denmark.
