On 18 March 2021, Consul-General Krit Tankanarat gave a lecture on Thailand at Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assembly General Meeting (Fiscal Year 2020) in Kyoto.

On this occasion, the Consul-General, upon invitation of the Friendship Assembly, briefed the meeting on Thailand’s current COVID-19 situation and the Royal Thai Government’s measures to contain the outspread of the virus. He also highlighted the close and cordial relations between Thailand and Kyoto Prefecture in the wide array of cooperation and areas which Thailand and Japan can further cooperate in the post COVID-19 era, particularly in Bio-Circular-Green Economic Model (BCG), Digital Economy and Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).  

Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assembly was established in 2008, with Mr. Hiroshi Sugaya as the current Chairman. Comprising of 45 members, the Friendship Association has been in close cooperation with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in carrying out several activities to promote Thailand-Japan relations, especially at the cultural and people-to-people levels.
