On 24 July 2024, the Department of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized a seminar to prepare for protocol arrangement and facilitation in support of Thailand's hosting of the 6th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit, scheduled for 3-4 September 2024.
Mr. Chakkrit Krachaiwong, Director-General of the Department of Protocol, and representatives from over 40 relevant agencies widely exchanged experiences, opinions, and best practices related to protocol arrangement and facilitation for previous official visits to Thailand by high-level foreign dignitaries and international meetings hosted by Thailand. The seminar aimed to enhance inter-agency coordination to ensure a smooth and successful hosting of the upcoming BIMSTEC Summit.
The BIMSTEC Summit is a high-level meeting for Government leaders from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand focusing on technical and economic cooperation in the Bay of Bengal region.
