On 2 September 2024, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, welcomed the U.S. Congressional Staff Delegation from the House Appropriations Committee, led by Ms. Susan Adams, Clerk and Staff Director, Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs. The Meeting was also joined by the Honorable Robert F. Godec, Ambassador of the United States of America to Thailand.

Both sides had a fruitful conversation on the current state of Thailand-U.S. relations, covering wide-ranging areas of cooperation, particularly defence and security, economy, education, public health, and people-to-people relations. They also discussed ways to further enhance Thailand-U.S. alliance and exchanged perspectives on key regional issues, including the situation in Myanmar.
