On 6-7 July 2023, Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Governor for Thailand, attended the 44th ASEF Board of Governors’ Meeting (BoG) in Barcelona, Spain, together with representatives from 51 member countries and 2 international organizations from both Asia and Europe. For the first time, the conference discussed and endorsed the ASEF three-year strategic plan.

ASEF Governor for Thailand also met with the Spanish Governor who is currently the Chair of the Meeting, the Indonesian Governor who is the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee (FAC), and the Executive Director of ASEF. These bilateral meetings provided the opportunity for the Thai Governor to introduce herself and exchange views on important ASEF issues, such as the three-year strategic plan, ASEF's financial sustainability, and the proposal for her to consider taking up key positions in ASEF.

ASEF is a track-II organization under the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) framework, aiming to promote better understanding between Asia and Europe through activities in four main areas: (1) cultural exchanges; (2) academic exchanges; (3) people-to-people exchanges; and (4) ASEM public relations. The Cabinet approved the appointment of Mrs. Chulamanee as the new Thai Governor for ASEF on 13 June 2023, following which she attended the annual BoG Meeting for the first time as Thai Governor.
