Ambassador of Thailand to Norway and Iceland, with residence in Oslo, had bilateral meetings with Permanent Secretary, Icelandic Ministry of Health

During the visit to Iceland on 4-5 November 2021, H.E. Ms. Karntimon Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway and Iceland, with residence in Oslo, had bilateral meetings with H.E. Ms. Asta Valdimarsdóttir, Permanent Secretary, Icelandic Ministry of Health, H.E. Mr. Petur Asgeirsson, Ambassador and acting Director General for Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs, Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and had working lunch with the Icelandic Thai Trade Council, namely Mr. Ólafur Stephensen, Secretary General, The Icelandic Federation of Trade, Mr. Guðmundur R. Sigtryggsson, managing director, XCO and Mr. Ólafur Ó. Johnson, managing director, Ó. Johnson & Kaaber and Sælkeradreifing.  Also attended the working lunch, were Ms. Anna M.Þ. Ólafsdóttir, Ex-Thai Honorary Consul General in Reykjavik and Ms. Sompit Siengboon, assistant to the Ex-Thai Honorary Consul General in Reykjavik.

At a meeting with H.E. Ms. Asta Valdimarsdóttir, Permanent Secretary of the Icelandic Ministry of Health, Ambassador Karntimon Ruksakiati expressed appreciation to the Government of Iceland especially the Icelandic Ministry of Health for donating Pfizer vaccines to Thailand in the fight against COVID-19.  Both sides exchanged views and information on the current situation of COVID-19 between the two countries and expressed readiness to further cooperate on vaccine cooperation.

At a meeting with H.E. Mr. Petur Asgeirsson, Ambassador and acting Director General for Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs, Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides agreed to further promote bilateral relations between Thailand and Iceland, especially on tourism.  Both sides also discussed about Thai Honorary Consul General in Reykjavík and Icelandic Honorary Consul in Bangkok.  On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Petur Asgeirsson, acting Director General commended Thai community for being a good community in Iceland and that Icelandic people enjoy Thai food in many Thai restaurants in Iceland. 

At a working lunch with representatives of the Icelandic Thai Trade Council, both sides discussed ways to increase interaction between Thai entrepreneurs and the Icelandic Thai Trade Council, including an offer by the Ambassador to host a webinar to link the private sectors of both countries.  Both sides also discussed the possibility of organizing Thai Festival in Iceland to promote Thai food and may invite Thai community in Iceland, especially Thai restaurants, to take an active part in.
