Both sides then exchanged views on ways to further strengthen Thailand - Chile relations and concurred on the importance of high-level exchanges, effective utilization of the Thailand - Chile Free Trade Agreement, and the promotion of cooperation in potential areas of mutual benefits, including agriculture and critical minerals, as well as closer trade cooperation. The Chilean side expressed its interest in acceding to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and conveyed its support for Thailand’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
In addition, they also held discussions with senior representatives of the Central Bank of Chile, InvestChile, the Chilean Fintech Association (FinteChile), and the Financial Market Commission to exchange perspectives, experiences, and best practices in financial and fiscal matters, as well as to explore avenues for cooperation in financial technology and innovation and to further promote closer and more advanced trade and investment relations between Thailand and Chile.
The visit contributed to strengthening cooperation networks between the public and private sectors of both countries, which have enjoyed long-standing friendly relations for over 60 years. It also created opportunities for Thai businesses to expand trade and investment in Latin America by leveraging Chile’s potential as a country with economic stability, openness to international trade, and diverse resources and technological capabilities. This would help support Thailand’s efforts to enhance its international competitiveness and further connect Thailand to new opportunities in the Latin American region.
