Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs meets with the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Thailand

On 16 March 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, held a discussion with H.E. Mr. Michael Douglas Mann, Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Thailand.

Both sides discussed bilateral relations between Thailand and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, as well as the Order’s humanitarian role in responding to conflicts in various regions around the world. They also exchanged views on the draft agreement on humanitarian assistance proposed by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and discussed potential cooperation in civilian disaster response training, which both sides consider to be another promising area for future collaboration. In addition, they reviewed the progress of negotiations on a postal agreement and expressed their shared intention to expedite the negotiations so that the agreement can be concluded at an early date.
