Acting Director-General of European Affairs Department meets with Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Thailand

On 15 May 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, met with H.E. Ms. Julide Kayıhan, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Thailand, to discuss ways to promote and advance cooperation in preparation for elevating Thailand - Türkiye relations to a Strategic Partnership by 2028.

Both sides agreed to jointly promote bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Türkiye in various fields, such as the exchange of high-level visits, security, defence industry cooperation, and economic collaboration. They emphasised enhancing cooperation between the private sectors of both countries, as well as promoting Turkish investment in Thailand and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). They also discussed exploring potential cooperation along the Middle Corridor linking Asia and Europe.
