Thailand Assumes Chairmanship of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) for 2025

On 23 December 2024, Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, attended the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Senior Officials' Meeting, virtually. Iran hosted the meeting to summarize the development in ACD during Iran's chairmanship and to handover the ACD Chairmanship to Thailand.

Iran, as the ACD Chair for 2024, briefed the meeting about ACD's achievements over the past year. Key developments included the organization of the 3rd ACD Summit and the adoption of two outcome documents: (1) the Tehran Declaration and (2) the Doha Declaration. Iran also handed over the ACD Chairmanship and expressed readiness to work with Thailand in driving ACD cooperation during Thailand's Chairmanship.

The Director-General expressed appreciation to Iran for contributions during Chairmanship of ACD and emphasised the importance of translating the mandates from both the Tehran Declaration and the Doha Declaration into concrete outcomes, such as promoting youth engagement through sports and cultural exchanges, enhancing private sector engagement, enhancing regional connectivity through tourism.
