1. ASEAN strongly condemns the terrorist attacks on churches and other civilian establishments across Sri Lanka on 21st April 2019, which resulted in the loss of hundreds of innocent civilian lives and wounded numerous others. ASEAN extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.
2. ASEAN supports the efforts of the Government of Sri Lanka in addressing the situation and bringing the perpetrators to justice. ASEAN stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Sri Lanka in this difficult time. ASEAN also reiterates its strong commitment to working closely with Sri Lanka and the international community in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
