Thai Festival 2019 at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi

The Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Ministry of Culture of Thailand, Thai Tourism Authority (Dubai Office), Thai Trade Office in Dubai and Thai Airways International, Dubai Office, jointly organized the Thai Festival 2019 under the theme “Open to the New Shades of Thailand” between 22-23 March 2019 at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

On this occasion, His Excellency Vira Rojpojchanarat, Minister of Culture of Thailand, visited the Royal Thai Embassy and presided over the Thai Festival 2019. The event was also attended by Sheikha Hend Faisal Al Qassemi, Editor-in-Chief of the Velvet Magazine, diplomatic corps in the United Arab Emirates, senior officials from the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand along with expats and Thais that are currently living in the United Arab Emirates.

The two-day cultural event was included with various activities such as Thai cultural show and live music by Thai artists directly flown from Thailand, Thai authentic and refined cuisine by 5-Star Hotel and Restaurants, namely Benjarong from Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, Pachaylen from Eastern Mangroves Resort & Spa, Lemongrass Mushrif Mall and Desert Lotus from One To One Hotel, as well as from Thai Chef Community in Abu Dhabi, Cooking Demonstration of authentic Thai cuisine. Moreover, the event was included with the beautiful Thai traditional terracotta painting workshop and art of fruit and vegetable carving by Thai artists and members of Thai Women Circle in Abu Dhabi. 

The highlight of this year’s festival was also the exhibition by the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles that were brought directly from Thailand. The Thai textiles, fabric and Thai national costumes were shown on stage by Thai models, the first time ever of its kind in the United Arab Emirates.

In addition, the Thai young designers also brought their own master pieces of Thai modern and Ready-to-wear costumes in a fashion show during the event.
