On 9 – 12 March 2019, H.E. Mr. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, paid an official visit to Thailand as guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss bilateral cooperation especially in the areas of trade and investment, agriculture, aquaculture, rubber, tourism, and public health, as well as exchange views on the situation in the regions. 

 

His Excellency the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman paid a courtesy call on H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand during which both sides underlined the close and amicable bilateral relations and discussed the ongoing situation in the Middle East region. His Excellency the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman also had a fruitful meeting with H.E. Mr. Grisada Boonrach, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. He also attended a presentation on “Natural rubber technology for road construction”. The Omani delegation visited a rubberised asphalt factory and visited on the process of building a natural rubber modified asphalt concrete road and a para soil cement road at the Chachoengsao Rubber Research Center (CRRC). The Omani side also attended a study visit on aquaculture at the Chachoengsao Coastal Fisheries Research and Development Centre and a study visit on poultry in Lopburi Province.

 

His Excellency the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman met with his counterpart, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and had a substantive discussion on various issues encompassing cooperation on trade and investment, agriculture, tourism, development, combating violent extremism as well as security and stability in the Middle East. Both sides also exchanged views on the cooperation between the two regions, ASEAN and GCC, under Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship.

 

On this occasion, delegates of the two countries had additionally discussed bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interests, namely trade and investment, and in areas that Thailand has expertise, namely agriculture, rubber and aquaculture as well as in areas that enhance people-to-people contact namely tourism and public health.
