During 18 February - 3 March 2019, Mr. Pongsaporn Upani, a player of reed mouth organ or Khaen, a Thai traditional instrument, from Khon Kaen Province of Thailand, joined BrisAsia Festival 2019, a two-week performing arts residency and cultural exchange in Queensland.
During the two-week residency, Mr. Pongsaporn had engaged in a range of activities, namely be a guest public performance with JADE New World Collective at Cremorne Theatre QPAC held on 26 February 2019; be a guest appearance at Brisbane City Council’s BrisAsia symposium on 1 March 2019, participate in workshop with students in local schools in Brisbane.
His residency has brought a meaningful exchange among Australians, Asian-Australians and Thai people across artistic, educational and community sectors, and also provided a strong platform for wider cultural diplomacy
The Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra was very pleased to support and partner with QPAC in this particular event.
