      During 15 - 16 February 2019, H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, State Councilor of the State Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand as Guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
      On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, will have a strategic consultation with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi in Chiang Mai. The visit aims to strengthen Thailand - China bilateral relations and provides an opportunity for both sides to exchange strategic views on important bilateral and regional issues, as well as further explore ways to enhance and advance cooperation on issues of mutual interest for the benefit of the two countries and the region at large.

      This will be the first official visit to Thailand of H.E. Mr. Wang Yi after assuming the position of State Councilor of the State Council (Deputy Prime Minister level), in March 2018, in addition to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. This also marks his first visit to a Southeast Asian country this year. H.E. Mr. Wang Yi paid an official visit to Thailand as his first country after assuming the position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2013.
