On 31 January 2019, Mr Songphol Sukchan, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia had a meeting with Dr. Wisoot Binlateh, Director of Sheikhul Islam office for Southern Coordinator Center and Chairman of the Council for Humanitarian Networking of Sheikhul Islam Office of Thailand and his delegation on their visit to Indonesia to provide humanitarian assistance to victims of the earthquakes and tsunami that took place in Indonesia in recent months. Both sides discussed the Council’s humanitarian missions as well as Thailand’s assistance to Indonesia in response to the said recent natural disasters.

            In addition, the Ambassador and the delegation discussed the Embassy’s missions in assisting Thai Muslim students in Indonesia, including sponsoring students’ activities, compiling students' database, paying visits to Thai students across Indonesia, offering internship programme at the Embassy to Thai students and preparing evacuation plan of Thai students in case of emergency and natural disaster. The delegation commended the Embassy’s active support for Thai students in Indonesia and expressed their readiness to work closely with the Embassy in this regard.
