3rd Meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand will organise the 3rd Meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on 25 January 2019 at Anantara Siam Hotel, Bangkok. The JCBC meeting will be co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, and H.E. Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The JCBC meeting is an important mechanism to discuss bilateral relations between Thailand and Vietnam which will be attended by representatives from relevant agencies from both sides. The meeting provides an opportunity for Thailand and Vietnam to review progress and achievements of past cooperation in various fields, as well as a platform where both sides reaffirm their commitments to continue existing cooperation and explore new areas of collaboration.

Before convening the JCBC meeting, the two Foreign Ministers will co-chair the 3rd Foreign Ministers’ Retreat to discuss several areas of mutual interest, benefitting Thai - Vietnamese relations.

After the 3rd JCBC meeting, H.E. Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, will pay a courtesy call on H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand. Vietnam and Thailand are Strategic Partners since 2013. The 3rd JCBC meeting will help steer forward a clear direction and targets for the 2nd Plan of Action Implementing the Thailand - Vietnam Strategic Partnership (2019 - 2023). The meeting will also prepare the groundwork to attain key deliverables for the 4th Joint Cabinet Retreat (JCR) to be held in Vietnam at a mutually convenient date.
