H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, is scheduled to attend the 4^th Mekong - Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, during 16 - 17 December 2018.  The meeting will be attended by foreign ministers of six MLC member countries including Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and China.

      The meeting will review the progress in the implementation of the Five-Year Plan of Action on MLC Cooperation (2018 - 2022) in the past year, and discuss the future direction of MLC Cooperation. The meeting will also adopt an outcome document – the Joint Press Communiqué of the 4^th MLC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting - reflecting the significant results agreed upon at the meeting, such as (1) the adoption of a theme for the 3^rd MLC Summit and a logo which will be used in meetings and activities carried out during the co-chairmanship of Lao PDR and China (2018 – 2020) (2) the adoption of a logo and theme song of the MLC (3) review of the progress in the past year on the implementation of the Five-Year Plan of Action on MLC Cooperation (4) future direction of MLC Cooperation such as the proposal to establish a Lancang - Mekong Economic Development Belt, new cooperation projects, and the proposal to establish an MLC International Secretariat, and (5) the promotion of synergies between the MLC and other regional and sub-regional cooperation frameworks such as ACMECS, ASEAN and GMS.

      The Mekong – Lancang Cooperation was established in November 2015, from Thailand's initiative in 2012 to convene an international meeting on sustainable development in the Mekong - Lancang sub-region, aiming to reduce development gap among member countries and promoting sustainable development in the Mekong sub-region.
