The Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra together with the Team Thailand organized the Tribute and Remembrance Ceremony and the Thai National Day Reception 2018 to commemorate and celebrate three important and intertwined occasions of 5 December 2018 - the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand and Thailand’s Father’s Day.

The Embassy and the Thai Community in Australia were also deeply grateful and honoured to receive the congratulatory messages and warm wishes on the day of national celebrations from His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Governor-General of Australia and the Honourable Scott Morrison MP, Prime Minister of Australia.

More than 250 guests attended the Reception including Ms. Lyndall Sachs PSM, Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Chris Steel, Minister for Multicultural Affairs, ACT Legislative Assembly, Ms. Elizabeth Kikkert, Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs, ACT Legislative Assembly, Air Marshal Leo Davies, Chief of Air Force, Foreign Ambassadors and High Commissioners to Australia.

The Embassy was also delighted to join by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Australian Defence Force (ADF) heroes who played an important role in the Wild Boars soccer team rescue mission at Tham Luang Cave, Chiang Rai Province.  A warm and friendly gathering re-affirmed Ambassador Nantana Sivakua’s remarks during the official ceremony that people-to-people tie is surely one of impressive aspects of the relationship between Thailand and Australia.
