Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand to Attend the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Other Related Summits during 13 - 15 November 2018 in Singapore

H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, is scheduled to travel to Singapore and lead the Thai delegation to the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Other Related Summits during 13 – 15 November 2018. H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, will also join the delegation. 
 
During the visit to Singapore, the Prime Minister will attend 14 summits and two activities, which will be attended by leaders of the ten ASEAN Member States, eight Dialogue Partners of ASEAN, and guests of the chair including Canada, Chile and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with a number of leaders of the participating countries, attend the 2nd Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Summit, as well as meeting with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council. 
 
In the summit meetings, Thailand will place emphasis on issues of mutual interest which will be beneficial to the people of ASEAN and Thailand such as connecting the connectivities within ASEAN and between ASEAN and other regional cooperation frameworks; establishing an ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue in Thailand; promoting the rights of persons with disabilities; finalising a guideline on consular assistance by ASEAN Member States Missions in third countries to nationals of other ASEAN Member States; as well as supporting the implementation of ASEAN Smart Cities Network.
 
At the closing ceremony of the 33rd ASEAN Summit, the Prime Minister will represent Thailand as the incoming Chair of ASEAN in the handover of the ASEAN Chairmanship from Singapore, which Thailand will officially assume from 1 January to 31 December 2019, according to the ASEAN Charter. An ASEAN Chairmanship handover video clip will also be shown to unveil the logo and theme of the chairmanship.
