On 16 October 2018, Mrs. Henrietta Fore, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

The Executive Director expressed appreciation towards the Royal Thai Government for the good level of cooperation through the 70 years that UNICEF has been operating in Thailand. She recognised Thailand's progress on children and youth, particularly early childhood development, youth and adolescent development, promotion of skills for employment, migrant children, and efforts to end statelessness in children. In this regard, the Executive Director invited Thailand to share such experiences with other countries through high-level meetings and jointly organised international events. She stressed that Thailand could share good domestic examples in the areas of secondary school curricula and work-life skills development, since UNICEF recently launched the Generation Unlimited Partnership in September this year.

In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Executive Director discussed future collaboration with UNICEF to promote South-South and trilateral cooperation, through the Ministry's Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and to strengthen partnerships through ASEAN, as well as through ACMECS with UNICEF as a development partner.
