Following the landing of Typhoon Jebi in the Kansai region of Japan on 4 September 2018 resulting in many casualties and losses, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mr.  Shinzō Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Tarō Kōno, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, as follows:

Excellency,
 
On behalf of the Government and people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the Government of Japan and to those who have been affected by Typhoon Jebi that struck Japan this week, reportedly one of the strongest storms in recent history.
 
I am certain that, with the excellent preparedness, the resilience and the spirit of solidarity for which the Japanese people are known, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the area will be fully brought about in no time. The Royal Thai Government, as always, stands ready to provide whatever support needed in this difficult time.

Excellency,
 
I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of lives and extensive damage to properties caused by Typhoon Jebi that struck Japan this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people affected. 
 
I am confident that with Japan’s extensive experience and excellent preparedness in disaster management, the Government and people of Japan will be able to bring speedy and full recovery to the affected areas. During this time of grief, Thailand stands ready to be of assistance to Japan in any way possible.
