Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Presented Contribution to Ambassador of Indonesia for Relief Efforts from Lombok Earthquake

          On 29 August 2018 at 13.30 hrs, at the Purple Room, Thai Khu Fa Building, Government House, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand presented a contribution of 3 million baht (approximately 90,000 USD) to H.E. Mr. Ahmad Rusdi, Ambassador of Indonesia to Thailand, as a token of support and sympathy from the Royal Thai Government and people of Thailand to those affected by the devastating earthquakes that struck Indonesia’s Lombok Island on 29 July and 5 August 2018. The latter caused the loss of at least 563 lives, injured more than 7,145 people and damaged over 73,843 homes, leaving 431,416 people homeless. The Prime Minister of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, had previously sent messages of condolences to the President of Indonesia and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, respectively.

          On this occasion, the Prime Minister of Thailand also presented a letter addressed to the President of Indonesia expressing the Royal Thai Government’s appreciation for the Indonesian Government’s support in the successful rescue of 216 Thai tourists from Mount Rinjani following the earthquake on 29 July 2018.
