On June 20, 2018,  Mrs. Nantana Sivakua, Ambassador of Thailand, together with Mrs. Pornpan Jankrajang, political counselor, paid a  courtesy call on The Hon Tony Smith MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia.  Ambassador Nantana thanked the Speaker for his support of the Resolution of the House of Representatives expressing its deep regret at the pass of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in October 2016.  Moreover,  the two exchanged their views on the good relations between Thailand and Australia.  The Hon Tony Smith was delightful to learn that Thai investment in Australia has steadily increased to a significant amount , thus beneficial to the economies of both countries.  The two also agreed that the people to people relations have been very close, with around 800,000 Australian tourists visit Thailand last year, while there are currently over 20,000 Thai students pursuing their education in Australia.
