         On 29 March 2018, His Excellency Mr. Virachai Plasai, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, signed the Compact between the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand: Commitment to eliminate sexual exploitation and abuse.

        The compact is statement of principles between the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Member States with the purpose of enhancing standards and promoting cooperation to prevent and eliminate sexual exploitation and abuse by the personnel of the United Nations and of Member States deployed in the field mission, including in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.

        Thailand puts the elimination of sexual exploitation and abuse high on its agenda and therefore reiterates the importance of supporting the Secretary-General’s initiative on this matter, which relates to peace and security, humanitarian, and development issues.
