On 10 April 2018, H.E. Mr. Damrong Kraikruan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will preside over the ceremony to officially launch the logo commemorating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Myanmar as well as to present prizes to the winners of the logo design competition. To commemorate this auspicious occasion, the Ministry has also invited representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar as well as other partner agencies whose role greatly contributes to the enhancement of people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.

The logo design competition was publicised among Thai nationals, from all ages and professions, from 11 January to 28 February 2018, during which a total of 224 logo designs were submitted. The aspiration behind the competition is to raise awareness on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Myanmar, which will be celebrated on 24 August 2018, as well as to promote constructive engagement between the public of both countries that can contribute to further enhancing the already existing vibrant and cordial relations.

The Ministry has allocated cash rewards for the winner and two runner-ups and Thai Smile Airways has sponsored 2 international air tickets between Thailand and Myanmar for the winner. The official 70th anniversary logo will be featured on commemorative activities and events organised both in Thailand and Myanmar hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as other partner agencies. Activities include (1) Academic Seminar on the Occasion of the 70th Anniversary of Thailand – Myanmar Diplomatic Relations; (2) Thingyan or Myanmar Water Festival, Myanmar Food and Film Festivals as well as Cultural Performances hosted by the Embassy of Myanmar in Bangkok; (3) Thai - Myanmar Pantomime and Puppet showcase; (4) Thai Film Festival; (5) Commemorative pagoda replica at Kaba Aye pagoda; (6) Duplication of Wall murals at Maha Thein Daw Gyi Temple; (7) Thai - Myanmar National Artists’ Art Exhibition; and (8) Establishment of the Royal Development Study Center at Myanmar’s Yezin Agricultural University.
