On 19 September 2017, the Department of European Affairs and the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with the Royal Thai Embassy in Helsinki co-organized the Special Lecture on “e-Governance” by Ms. Anna Piperal, Managing Director of e-Estonia Showroom, Republic of Estonia, a topic which is of great interest to Thailand as the country is implementing the “Thailand 4.0” policy designed to enhance its economic competitiveness.

 

The Estonian government, under the “e-Estonia” policy, aims to enhance the nation’s competitiveness and improve the efficiency and accessibility of public services through IT and e-Governance system. With this system, the public and private sector can quickly exchange data through peer-to-peer network. In case of security breaches, the data’s owner can immediately block unwanted access and the Block Chain technology will secure the data transaction. Today, e-Governance has become a part of Estonian’s daily life. With a single Estonian ID-card, Estonian people can access the various kind of public services, such as healthcare, education, taxation, and voting from anywhere in the world.
