H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, is scheduled to attend the Award Ceremony for SEP for SDGs Youth Essay Contest Winners which will be held on 24 March 2017 at Vithes Samosorn, Misnistry of Foreign Affairs, Bangkok.

The SEP for SDGs Youth Essay Contest is set as a national competition which widely opens for youth across Thailand. The competition aims to promote better understanding of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among young generation so that they can apply SEP in their daily life and become a change agent or “SEP for SDGs Young Ambassadors” to promote sustainability in their community.

The theme of the contest is “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and the Sustainable Development”. There are 3 topics for each target groups which are;

(1) “The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and My Daily Life” for primary school students;

(2) “The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and Sustainable Development Goal” for secondary and high school students;

(3) “SEP for SDGs the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals” for college and university students.

Over 700 essays were submitted for the competition: 450 essays from the secondary and high students; 229 essays from primary school students; and 31 essays from college and university students.

The winning essays will be published online via the websites and social media; and will be printed in the journal of Thailand International Cooperation Agency “Development Diplomacy”. Furthermore, all awardees will be invited to join activities/projects related to sustainable development based on the application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in Thailand and neighboring countries.
