On 8 March 2017, H.E. Mrs. Maria Alicia Cuzzoni de Sonchein, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, upon the assumption of her duty. The Thai Foreign Minister warmly welcomed the Argentine Ambassador back to Thailand after her previous posting in Bangkok in 2008 – 2012.

On behalf of the Argentine Government, the Argentine Ambassador conveyed a condolence message on the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

During the meeting, both sides reiterated the intent to strengthen bilateral relations and promote cooperation between the two countries in various areas. The Argentine Ambassador has taken this opportunity to reaffirm the readiness of Argentina to host the 4th Meeting of Thai – Argentine Political Consultations, the 4th Meeting of Thai – Argentine Bilateral Economic Consultation and the 4th Meeting of Planning Commission in technical cooperation to be held in 2017. Moreover, the Argentine Ambassador has also requested for the Thai support to Argentina’s application to accede to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
