The Kingdom of Thailand, the United States and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) will host a Workshop on the Concept Development of the ASEAN Regional Forum Transnational Threat Information-sharing Center (ATTIC) during 6 – 7 March 2017 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Center. The workshop is one of the activities under the ARF Work Plan on Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime 2015 – 2018 endorsed
by the 22nd ASEAN Regional Forum on 6th August 2015.

The ATTIC Workshop will focus on addressing challenges of current threats on transnational crimes, exchanges of ideas and experiences on best practice in data and information collection, and law enforcement coordination designed to combat transnational crime, especially illicit drugs and precursor chemicals trafficking. The Workshop will also explore the setting up of ATTIC or an information-sharing center to address transnational threats among the ARF participants, which currently comprise of 26 countries and one regional organization. The key objectives of the ATTIC are to generate win-win benefits for all the common fight against transnational crimes, promote human security in the Asia-Pacific region as well as support ASEAN centrality and partnerships with
other countries. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, as co-host of this event, looks forward to the meeting coming up with concrete and feasible ideas that would lead towards realizing the ARF Transnational Threat Information-sharing Center (ATTIC). Such a Center would support regional and global efforts in fighting against transnational crimes.

Later this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UNODC will also co-host a Conference on Border Management during 1 – 2 May 2017 at the United Nations Convention Center.
