The Department of International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is organizing a seminar entitled, “TPP from the Perspective of Academia” on Thursday 4th February 2016, 14.00 – 17.00 hrs. at Narathip Auditorium. The Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, will moderate the seminar.
The seminar will cover various topics relating to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) by several academics from different fields of studies, such as Dr. Sarut Wittayarungruangsri, Senior Manager, Advisory Group, Bolliger & Company, Bangkok. (Thailand); Dr. Deunden Nikomborirak, Research Director, Economic Governance, TDRI; Dr. Jakkrit Kuanpoth, Research Director for Economic Laws, TDRI; and Dr. Wanaporn Techagaisiyavanit, researcher from Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University. A wide range of issues will be discussed, for instance, the opportunities and challenges of Thai industries from joining the TPP; the effect of TPP on Thai macro economy, health services, agriculture and education; and a review on the TPP’s Investment Chapter, especially on the topic of liberalization, investment protection, and Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS).
The seminar will be conducted in the Thai language.
