On 2 December 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy held a reception to celebrate the 87th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Willard Washington, D.C. Hotel. The Honorable Michael Grimm, United States Representative for New York's 11th congressional district, and the Honorable Daniel Russel, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Asia Pacific Affairs, were present as guests of honor and deliveredtheir respective remarks extending best wishes to His Majesty the King. Almost 500 guests, including congressmen from various states in the U.S., high-level representatives from the U.S. government agencies and the private sector, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as “Friends of Thailand”, attended the event.In addition, to honor His Majesty the King, the Royal Thai Embassy organized a photo exhibition on State Visits of Their Majestiesthe King and Queen of Thailand tothe United States of America in 1960 and 1967, which have contributed significantly to longstandingties of friendship between Thailand and the United States and their respective peoples.
