On the 7 August 2014, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, Mr. Abhirat Achalabun, Honorary Consul-general for Thailand in Tasmania, and Ms. Venus Asawapoom, Second Secretary, set up a roundtable meeting with representatives from University of Tasmania : Professor Susan Dodds - Dean, Faculty of Arts, Dr. Barbara Hartley - Discipline Director of Asian Languages and Studies, Faculty of Arts, Dr. Kaz Ross - Coordinator, School of Asian Languages and Studies, Faculty of Arts, Dr. Nick Cooling - Director of Electives & Internationalisation, School of Medicine, Faculty of Health, Dr. Nick Tarulevicz -Senior Lecturer in Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts and representatives of Thai students of University of Tasmania, in order to create Friends of Thailand network, to discuss about education and personnel, knowledge and cultural exchange between University of Tasmania and Thailand. The University of Tasmania showed significantly interest in the event Thai Kitchen to the World, and expressed a will to let students participate in 2015, to exchange knowledge, culture and cooperation in every level from primary students to university students, especially in teaching Thai language as an alternative for teenagers in Tasmania.
