         On 29 July 2014, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Manoel Dias, Minister of Labor and Employment of Brazil.

          During the meeting, bilateral cooperation in the areas of politics, trade, investment, tourism and labour between Thailand and Brazil was discussed. Information on employment opportunities and public policies of both countries were also exchanged for mutual benefits. Especially, in 2015 that ASEAN member countries would become an ASEAN Economic Community with more than 600 million people together, there would be a free flow of goods, investment, services and labour in the region. 

          Ambassador Charnbhumidol further informed the Minister that the first and present Thai investment in Manaus, Amazonas, is represented by the Cal–Comp Electronics Thailand PLC Company, which is an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) enterprise producing electronics products for major brands, namely, Western Digital, Seagate, Technicolor. The company employed 40 Thai employees and more than 1,500 Brazilians. It is expected to construct its second factory in Brazil in the very near future.

         Ambassador Charnbhumidol also took the opportunity to explain about situation in Thailand that now the provisional constitution has been promulgated and there would be an establishment of a National Legislative Assembly, Interim Prime Minister and Cabinet as well as a National Reform Council and a drafting of new constitution. A free and fair election under a democratic system was expected to be held by October 2015.
