On July 9, 2014, Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation hosted dinner in honour of Mr. Supant Mongkolsuthree, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (F.T.I.) and Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, Vice Chairman of F.T.I. and Chairman of Thai - Russian Business Council at the Ambassador’s Residence.
The leading Thai businessmen from the sectors of agriculture, food products, construction, energy, logistics and printing industry together with Mrs. Kalayanee Sirikul, Minister (commercial affairs) and Mr. Manan Boonyachai, General Manager of the Office of Thai Airways International in Moscow also attended.
The Thai Ambassador was pleased that the Thai businessmen were following up the cooperation on trade and investment with Russia since the previous visit to Russia last December 2013.
The Thai Ambassador and the F.T.I. Chairman also shared their views to promote Thai business in Russia in the fields of food, agriculture and Thai restaurants, as well as to pay high attention on the economic potentials and beneficial schemes of Thai investment in Russia. They also attached the importance to revive the Thai banking services in Russia such as EXIM Bank so as to help intensify the two countries’ bilateral trade.
On July 10, 2014 the Thai Ambassador, upon the invitation of Dr. Andrey Bykov, Chairman of the Russian - Thai Business Council, gave an opening remark for the consultative meeting between the Thai - Russian Business Council and Russian - Thai Business Council at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
The Thai Ambassador congratulated on the successful conclusion of the Joint Plan of Action of the Thai - Russian Business Council and the Russian - Thai Business Council for 2014 - 2015. He also reaffirmed the Embassy’s continued contribution towards the closer cooperation between the Thai - Russian private sectors.
In particular, this includes the Embassy’s leading role in supporting the Thai business delegation to participate in Moscow Halal Expo 2014 last June 2014, which led to the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Halal Certification of the two countries.
