Different groups with opposing views have caused deepening social divisiveness and led to the strengthening of each side’s positions. This prolonged political deadlock and the administrative paralysis have affected the stability and economy of Thailand. Given the situation, the military was compelled to take control of national administration in order to provide stability and prevent further deterioration of the situation. A three-phase Roadmap for National Administration was announced to the public to pave the way to a full democracy, i.e., 1) to achieve national reconciliation though Reconciliation Centers for Reform to be established at the central and regional levels to hold dialogue between all sides, 2) to establish a legislative assembly to select an interim Prime Minister, cabinet members, draft a new constitution, and a reform council to be set up to resolve existing conflicts, and 3) to launch a general election under a democratic system. The participants showed their understanding toward Thailand’s situation and hoped that the implementation of three-phase Roadmap will be achieved as planned.
