On 29 March 2025, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, accompanied by Col. Apichai Rueangrit, Chairman of the Thai-Myanmar Local Border Committee (Ranong-Kawthaung), and relevant officials, arrived at the Meeruang Ngoen Pier in Kawthaung, Myanmar, to receive four Thai nationals who had been granted a pardon by the Myanmar authority.

The Vice Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to the Myanmar side for granting a pardon to the four Thai nationals, reflecting the close ties between the two countries. Additionally, the Thai government extended its condolences for the earthquake that occurred on 28 March 2025, for which the Thai side is currently considering humanitarian assistance to contribute to relief efforts for Myanmar.

The Vice Foreign Minister also congratulated the four Thai nationals on their return home, emphasizing that this was a priority mission for the Thai government, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs working closely with relevant Thai agencies in continuous discussions with the Myanmar side to expedite the release of the four Thai nationals at the earliest opportunity.
