Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand strengthened Thai-Indonesian cooperation through existing bilateral mechanisms, exchanged views on the COVID-19 cooperation and enhanced regional cooperation with ASEAN centrality with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia

On 24th February 2021, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, welcomed H.E. Retno Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, during the latter’s visit to Thailand as Official Guest of the Ministry

During their discussion, both sides expressed satisfaction with the cordial relations between Thailand and Indonesia and agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation utilizing existing bilateral mechanisms. The two sides also shared information and exchanged views on the current COVID-19 situation as well as on efforts and cooperation to address COVID-19-related challenges.

Both sides agreed on the importance of enhancing regional cooperation with ASEAN centrality, as ASEAN plays a vital role in promoting peace and stability in Southeast Asia. They concurred that Myanmar is an important member of the ASEAN family, and that ASEAN can be a platform for constructive dialogue between Myanmar and other ASEAN member states, consistent with the purposes and principles enshrined in the ASEAN Charter and for the benefit of the people of Myanmar.
