Permanent Secretary Strengthened Cooperation Vital for Post COVID-19 Recovery with the Ambassador of Lao PDR

The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs discussed strengthening bilateral relations with the Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Thailand, promoting cooperation in areas of energy, sustainable development and connectivity, as well as enhancing bilateral trade and investment, all of which are vital for the post COVID-19 socio-economic recovery.

On 15 February 2021, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, welcomed and met with H.E. Mr. Seng Soukhathivong, Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) to Thailand, during a courtesy call. Both sides were pleased that Thailand and the Lao PDR have enjoyed cordial and close relations at all levels, and agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations and the “Strategic Partnership for Growth and Sustainable Development” that would yield tangible benefits for the peoples of the two countries.

Both sides also discussed further cooperation in areas such as energy, sustainable development and connectivity, as well as enhancing bilateral trade and investment which are vital for the post COVID-19 socio-economic recovery.

The two countries are currently celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
