On 14 September 2020, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) elected the Kingdom of Thailand, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Republic Colombia, and the Swiss Confederation as members of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) for the term 2021-2022.

The PBC, comprising 31 UN Member States, is a dedicated intergovernmental advisory body that supports peacebuilding efforts in conflict affected countries while helping to bridge the peace-development nexus within the United Nations system.

Thailand attaches importance to addressing the root causes of conflict through sustainable development. Thailand looks forward to contributing to the work of the PBC by promoting: (1) sustainable development guided by the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP for SDGs); (2) inclusive approach to peace and development; and (3) South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
