On 20 January 2020, H.E. Mrs. Busaya Mathelin, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, co-chaired the 7th Thailand - Vietnam Political Consultation Group (PCG) Meeting with H.E Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, at Government Guest House in Hanoi.

At the Meeting, the Permanent Secretary and the Deputy Minister had discussed various issues of Thailand - Vietnam bilateral relations, including the cooperation on trade, investment, finance, connectivity, science and technology, security and defense, combatting of IUU Fishing, labour, culture, education and development projects based on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP). In addition to the bilateral issues, both sides also exchanged views on ways to advance cooperation in ASEAN and Mekong Sub-regional frameworks. The outcome of this PCG would further promote and strengthen relations between Thailand and Vietnam as well as reiterate special status of the two countries as a Strengthened Strategic Partners. The PCG is also a good step towards the 4th Joint Cabinet Retreat (JCR) which will be held in Vietnam later this year.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also hosted an official luncheon in honour of the Permanent Secretary.
