H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha (Ret.), Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, will virtually attend the 5th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit, on 30 March 2022. Sri Lanka will host the Summit and its preceding meetings during 28-30 March 2022 under the theme “BIMSTEC-Towards a Resilient Region, Prosperous Economies, Healthy Peoples”.

At the Summit, Thailand will take up the BIMSTEC Chairmanship from Sri Lanka and discuss with all Member States to build a strong post pandemic economic recovery and promote inclusive and sustainable regional growth in order to advance BIMSTEC cooperation to a greater height.

BIMSTEC consists of 7 countries, namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
