เมื่อวันที่ 24 มี.ค. 2564 นางสาวกานติมน รักษาเกียรติ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงออสโล และนายศุภโชค เย็นทรวง ที่ปรึกษา ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมประจำปีของสมาคมผู้ประกอบการเดินเรือของนอร์เวย์ (The Norwegian Shipowners’ Association) สำหรับเอกอัครราชทูตต่างประเทศในนอร์เวย์ซึ่งปีนี้จัดในรูปแบบดิจิตอล เพื่อให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับอุตสาหกรรมเดินเรือในปีที่ผ่านมา และอนาคตในปี 2564

อุตสาหกรรมเดินเรือของนอร์เวย์ซึ่งใหญ่เป็นอันดับที่ 4 ของโลก ได้รับผลกระทบในช่วงวิกฤตการระบาดของ COVID-19 โดยเฉพาะในธุรกิจที่เกี่ยวกับการขนส่งผู้โดยสาร อย่างไรก็ดี วิกฤตที่เกิดขึ้นทำให้ความสำคัญของอุตสาหกรรมเดินเรือมีความโดดเด่นมากยิ่งขึ้นเนื่องจากสินค้า และยารักษาโรคส่วนใหญ่ต้องถูกขนส่งทางเรือถึงร้อยละ 90 เนื่องจากการเดินทางอากาศที่ลดลงในปีที่ผ่านมา

ทั้งนี้ แผนการสำหรับอนาคตของนอร์เวย์คือการส่งเสริมการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมเดินเรือที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อมโดยมีเป้าหมายที่จะเป็นอุตสาหกรรมที่ไม่ปล่อยมลพิษที่ส่งผลเสียต่อสภาพภูมิอากาศ (Climate Neutral) ก่อนปี ค.ศ. 2050 และส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมทางทะเลที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อมนอกเหนือจากการเดินเรือ เช่น การติดตั้งเครื่องผลิตไฟฟ้าจากพลังงานลมแบบทุ่นลอยน้ำนอกชายฝั่ง และการดักและเก็บก๊าซที่เป็นมลพิษ็น็นม (Carbon Capture and Storage) จากอุตสาหกรรมบนภาคพื้นดินในทะเล เป็นต้น

On 24 March 2021 H.E. Ms. Karntimon Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway and Mr. Supachoke Yensuang, Counsellor attended the annual meeting of the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association for Oslo based Ambassadors which was organized digitally this year to update the information of the Norwegian Shipping industry in the past year and the outlook for the year 2021.

Norway, the world 4^th largest shipping nation, has been affected by the global impact of COVID-19 crisis, especially in the passenger transport sector. Nonetheless, this crisis has highlighted the importance of the shipping industry to the global supply chain since 90 percent of goods and medicines were transported across the globe by sea vessels in the past year due to the reduced number of air transportations.    

Plan for the future of the Norwegian Shipping industry is promoting green shipping with the goal of entire Norwegian fleets shall be climate neutral by 2050 and promoting other green offshore businesses such as building more floating offshore wind power generators and carbon capture and storage.
