ตามที่สมเด็จพระสันตะปาปาฟรันซิสเสด็จเยือนประเทศไทยอย่างเป็นทางการในฐานะแขกของรัฐบาล ระหว่างวันที่ ๒๐ – ๒๓ พฤศจิกายน ๒๕๖๒ สมเด็จพระสันตะปาปาฟรันซิสได้ทรงมีพระราชสาส์นถึงนายกรัฐมนตรี ลงวันที่ ๒ ธันวาคม ค.ศ.๒๐๑๙  ทรงแสดงความชื่นชมพิธีรับเสด็จ ณ ท่าอากาศยานทหาร ๒ กองบิน ๖ และทรงขอบใจหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวกับการรับเสด็จในครั้งนั้น ดังนี้

I am grateful for the warm welcome you offered me in Thailand and the assistance provided by the civil authorities in preparing for my visit. I am likewise appreciative of the reception I received at the airport.

In addition, I appreciated our personal meeting and your words that were marked by clarity and humanity. I pray that you may be filled with wisdom and strength in your service to the nation.

Upon you and all the people of Thailand, I invoke the divine blessings of peace and joy.
