เมื่อวันที่ 15 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 นางกรรณมน เสนาณรงค์ อุปทูตฯ สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน และข้าราชการ เจ้าหน้าที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ และครอบครัว พร้อมด้วยพุทธศาสนิกชนในนิวซีแลนด์ กว่า 50 คน ได้ร่วมพิธีทำบุญตักบาตรถวายภัตตาหารเพลแด่พระภิกษุสงฆ์ และเวียนเทียน รวมทั้ง ในช่วงบ่ายได้ร่วมพิธีถวายผ้าป่า เนื่องในวันมาฆบูชา ณ วัดธรรมประทีป กรุงเวลลิงตัน ประเทศนิวซีแลนด์

วันมาฆบูชา ซึ่งในปี 2568 ตรงกับวันพุธที่ 12 กุมภาพันธ์ เป็นวันสำคัญทางพระพุทธศาสนา ตรงกับวันเพ็ญขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 3 มีเหตุอัศจรรย์ 4 ประการ หรือที่เรียกว่า "จาตุรงคสันนิบาต" ได้แก่ 1) พระสงฆ์สาวก 1,250 รูป มาเฝ้าพระพุทธเจ้าโดยมิได้นัดหมาย 2) พระสงฆ์ทั้งหมดเป็นพระอรหันต์ 3) พระสงฆ์ทั้งหมดได้รับการบวชจากพระพุทธเจ้า (เอหิภิกขุอุปสัมปทา) และ 4) เป็นวันพระจันทร์เต็มดวงเสวยมาฆฤกษ์ ในวันนี้พระพุทธเจ้าได้ทรงแสดงโอวาทปาติโมกข์ ซึ่งเป็นหัวใจสำคัญของพระพุทธศาสนา ประกอบด้วย 1) ละเว้นบาปทั้งปวง 2) ทำความดีให้ถึงพร้อม และ 3) ทำจิตใจให้บริสุทธิ์

สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ขออนุโมทนาบุญกับพุทธศนิกชนทุกท่านที่ได้ร่วมทำบุญในครั้งนี้ และขออำนาจแห่งบุญกุศลนี้ ดลบันดาลให้พุทธศาสนิกชนในนิวซีแลนด์และครอบครัวประสบแต่ความสุข ความเจริญ สุขภาพแข็งแรง และสมหวังในสิ่งที่ปรารถนาอันชอบธรรมสืบไป

On 15 February 2025, Ms. Kanamon Senanarong, Chargé d'Affaires, a.i., of the Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington, along with Embassy staff and more than 50 members of the Thai and Buddhist communities in New Zealand, participated in a merit-making ceremony on the occasion of Makha Bucha Day at Wat Dhammaprateep in Wellington, New Zealand. The activities included listening to monks chanting and preaching sermons, offering merit by giving alms, presenting food to the monks, and a candlelight procession. In the afternoon, attendees joined a robe-offering ceremony. 

Makha Bucha Day 2025 (Māgha Pūjā) is observed on Wednesday, 12 February, the full moon day of the 3rd lunar month. Known as Chaturanga Sannipata or the Fourfold Assembly Day, it commemorates four key events: 1) 1,250 monks gathered without prior arrangement, 2) all were arahants (enlightened disciples), 3) all were ordained by the Lord Buddha, and 4) it was the full moon of the third lunar month (the moon arrived to the star called Makha). On this day, the Lord Buddha taught the Ovada Patimokkha, which encapsulates Buddhism’s core principles: 1) refrain from evil, 2) do good, and 3) purify the mind.
